nScrypt CEO Kenneth Church to Speak at Orlando IMAPS Chapter
Kenneth H. Church, Ph.D. will be speaking at the Orlando Chapter of IMAPS in Orlando, FL at the Holiday Inn by the airport. Date TBA.
Summary
Title: Precision Dispensing and Ultra Short laser Ablation for Compact Form Factors
Traditional techniques for electronic packaging are being challenged by feature size and an increased number of functional devices. Consumers are becoming more intrigued with the idea of having their desktop computer, back-up drive, iPod, cellphone, GPS, XM, HDTV, Bluetooth, PlayStation and large screen monitor all in the one device that can fit in your pocket like a credit card. While this may be stretching a bit, the trend has already started. More and more functionality in smaller packages is being realized and released every few months. New and innovative tools and processes for packaging and compressing electronics will be needed to keep pace with consumer electronics requirements. This talk will present innovative demonstrations and concepts for micro dispensing (50 picoliter volume control) a wide range of materials and ultra short pulsed laser machining for the ability to add and take materials in a 3D and conformal setting to allow for higher density packaging. Smaller form factors require smaller volume control and precision in both addition and removal of materials in all dimensions. Utilizing the advanced small volume control with new dimensions, next generation packaging can meet the challenge set forth by newly condensed devices.
